IELTS Pie Chart – Learn How to Analyze and Describe Pie Charts

Model 1 Pie Chart
The pie chart above shows the results of a survey of Internet users in six countries about what they do online. Overall, the most popular activity is social networking, followed by playing games, listening to music and watching videos.
There are some clear differences between the countries, however. In China and India, social networking is by far the most popular activity, while in the US it is only the third most popular. In contrast, playing games is much more popular in the US than in any of the other countries surveyed.
What explains these differences? One possibility is that they reflect the different stages of development of the Internet in each country. China and India have the two largest populations of Internet users in the world, but the proportion of people using the Internet in these countries is still relatively low. This means that many people who are online are doing so for the first time, and are therefore more likely to be using social networking sites to stay in touch with friends and family.
In the US, on the other hand, the Internet has been around for much longer and is used by a much larger proportion of the population. This means that people are more likely to be using it for more sophisticated purposes, such as playing games or watching videos.
Whatever the reasons for these differences, one thing is clear: the Internet is now an important part of daily life for people all over the world.
